I am a proud mother of 4 children, 2 who have both graduated from BHS, one currently in high school and one in his last year of middle school. I have always been an active parent in my children's education, both academic and co-curricular. From being a room parent, to being co-president of Barbara Rose Elementary, to subbing for over 9 years in our district, to currently being a trustee on the 220 Educational Foundation, one can see I am very invested in our school district. My children have benefitted from many programs such as: fine arts (orchesis/musical), athletics- cross country, track, Poms, bowling, volleyball as well as programs created from the Educational Foundation- Business Incubator, BHS TV and Studio Production, My children have participated in Broncos Committed, Hope's IN, Barrington Giving Day, Dance Marathon, Snowflake, and I'm sure several I'm forgetting. My children are all so unique. I have experienced all levels of classes from AP, honors, basic level to classes with extra support. I have also been a substitute in several of the elementary schools, but mainly at the high school in a variety of classrooms. I have worked with our administrators for many years from principals to district level. Since my children range over the span of 6 1/2 years, I have engaged with many parents, coaches and teachers as well for the 14 + years of living in Barrington thus giving me a tremendous overview of everyone in our community. I believe I am an excellent communicator, listener and connecter. I love to connect people, listen to their concerns and most of all, I love to help people, which is why I think I will be an excellent addition to our school board.
Since we moved to South Barrington, just over 14 years ago, I have always been involved with our schools either as room parent when they were little to president and then chair of fundraising committees. At Barbara Rose, I helped plan, coordinate and implement a 20 year gala including former parents and community members raising 100K for a new playground. Most recently, while being a trustee for the 220 Educational Foundation, I orchestrated another gala celebrating the foundation's 25th anniversary helping to raise over 300K to renovate our fine arts studios at BHS. I am a very invested stakeholder in our school district and the quality of what our student's are offered.
I have been in the education system for over 25 years, first being a tenured, special education teacher at Adlai E. Stevenson HS for over 8 years (including substituting). After earning my masters in Educational Administration, I began to take some long term substitute positions at many local high schools while continuing to raise my 4 children and volunteer. I have taught in Barrington schools as a substitute for over 9 years, in several elementary schools, but mostly at Barrington High School. I love school and I love teaching. I want the best for our students always and I have been immersed in education for decades so I know what good is. Other schools I have taught at are: Fremd HS, Hoffman Estates HS, Bartlett HS, Streamwood HS, and Sundling Jr. High.
